1. Introduction

Tendril ("the App") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what data the App collects, how it is used, and your rights.

2. Data We Collect

The short version: almost nothing.

Tendril is a local-first application. All of your data stays on your device:

  • Plant names, species, and care schedules
  • Photos you take or select
  • Care log history
  • App preferences and settings

None of this data is transmitted to our servers or any third party.

3. Plant Identification (Pro Feature)

If you use the optional plant identification feature, a photo of your plant is anonymously sent to a third-party identification service (Plant.id). The photo is used solely for identification purposes and is not stored by us after processing.

4. In-App Purchases

Purchase transactions are handled entirely by the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. We do not receive or store your payment information, credit card details, or billing address.

5. Analytics and Tracking

Tendril uses Google Analytics (GA4) or Firebase Analytics to collect anonymous, aggregated data on app usage. This data helps improve functionality, such as tracking feature usage, navigation paths, and performance, without capturing personally identifiable information (PII). This practice ensures privacy compliance and allows for improvements based on user behavior.

6. Data Storage

All data is stored in a local database on your device and in your app's private document directory. This data is not accessible to other apps.

7. Data Export and Deletion

  • Export: Pro users can export a full backup of their data at any time via the Profile screen.
  • Deletion: Uninstalling the App permanently deletes all local data. There is no cloud copy.

8. Children's Privacy

The App does not knowingly collect data from children under 13. Since no personal data is collected from any user, this is not applicable in practice.

9. Changes to This Policy

If we update this Privacy Policy, we will increment the version number and prompt you to review and accept the updated policy within the App.

10. Your Rights

Under GDPR and UK data protection law, you have the right to access, correct, and delete your personal data. Since all data is stored locally on your device, you already have full control.
